Today we use many more electrical appliances than thirty years ago: induction hobs, heat pumps, EV chargers, computers. An older installation is often not designed for this. These signs indicate that your installation needs renewing.
1. You still have fuses
An old fuse box with screw-in fuses is a clear sign that the installation is outdated.
2. No earthing or poor earthing
Good earthing is essential for your safety. In old homes it is sometimes missing or no longer in order.
3. Too few sockets
Power strips and extension leads everywhere? Then there are too few sockets and circuits.
4. Fuses or the RCD trip often
That points to overload, a leak or a fault.
5. Warm or discoloured sockets
A socket or switch that gets warm, discolours or crackles is dangerous. Have it checked immediately.
6. Old cables and wiring
Fabric-covered cables or wiring without conduits are no longer up to date.
7. You are planning a renovation or extra appliances
A new kitchen, a heat pump, solar panels or an EV charger: that is the ideal moment to make your installation ready for the future.
How does a renovation work?
After a site visit we design the new installation together with you. We install a new distribution board, run new circuits and provide proper earthing, with as little demolition as possible. Then comes the inspection.
